National Inter-County Cross Country Action

NATIONAL INTER-COUNTY CROSS COUNTRY ACTION

Several Thetford AC athletes had the honour of wearing their County colours and racing at the National Inter-County Cross Country Championships, held at Prestwold Hall in Loughborough. Conditions proved tricky with the athletes having to battle through the relentless wind.

Thetford AC athletes got off to a flying start in the 3km U13 boys race. Ben Peck, representing Suffolk, produced yet another outstanding performance to storm home in 1st place and take the National Inter-County Cross Country title.

Representing Norfolk in the U13 girls race was Bethany Wilson. Bethany produced a solid performance over 3km, finishing in 188th place.

Another Thetford athlete donning the vest of Suffolk County was James Peck. Competing in the U15 boys 4km race, James produced another strong performance and raced home to a 58th place finish.

Tyler Howard wore the stripes of Norfolk in the U17 men’s race which was contested over 6km. Tyler put in a highly respectable performance, crossing the line in 265th place.

The sole senior Thetford athlete to earn a place in the Norfolk County team was Louise White. Racing over 10km, in a race that was also the British Cross Country Team Trials, Louise White was yet another Thetford athlete to do herself proud, finishing in 202nd place.

For some athletes, this event was the climax to what has been a long, tough Cross Country season of which they can be extremely proud of.
