Holland-on-Sea was the venue for the Clacton Standard Triathlon at the weekend. With a chilly start Simon Smith was participating in the Standard distance race which forms part of the Eastern Regional Triathlon League. Taking on his first sea swim triathlon Simon conquered the race distances – 1500m swim, 40k bike and 10k run in fantastic style to finish 2nd overall and 1st in the V40 age category in a time of 2:05:29.
Previously at the beginning of August, Simon and Charlotte Smith encountered warmer conditions at the Trifarm Sprint Triathlon in Chelmsford, again this race was part of the same Eastern Regiona League.The Sprint race comprised of an 800m lake swim, 20k bike and 5k run and saw Charlotte finish as 1st female in 1:11:49 and Simon as 2nd overall in 1:04:05.
