Four Thetford AC athletes took part in the Bedford Autodrome Duathlon, an athletic event that consists of a running leg, followed by a cycling leg and then another running leg in a format bearing some resemblance to triathlons.
Simon Smith, Charlotte Smith and Daniel Ward all took part in the standard distance of 10km run, 40km bike and a 5km run, both Simon and Charlotte Smith qualified for the standard European duathlon Championship next year in Ibiza by coming 2nd in their age group’s respectively.
Charlotte came 9th female overall in a time of 02:18:23, Simon was 12th overall with a time of 01:59:50 and Dan finished in a respectable 49th overall and 7th in his age group time of 02:09:13.
Also at Bedford was Steve Dickens who competed in the sprint duathlon distance which consisted of a 5km run, 20km bike and 2.5km run. Steve finished in 01:08:54 and 17th in his age group, 138th overall.
