Fenland 10K - 30 October 2011

A number of Thetford AC’s senior members took part in Sunday’s Fenland 10 mile road race. The flat course, offering potential for personal bests, attracted 284 runners.

Results: Marion McCall 1:10:48, Louise White 1:19:18 (pb), Cliff Lear 1:20:15 (pb), Hayley Cocksedge 1:29:31, Rosemary Matlock 1:30:18, Gill Paremain 1:31:38, Nicola Read 1:32:38, Allison West 1:36:00. Great East Run - 6 Nov 2011

This Sunday three senior members of Thetford AC took part in the Great East Run held at Bungay. This event, run on an undulating course, comprised both a 10k and 20k race.

All three athletes had an excellent run. Raymond Keevil ran a time of 1:45:00 in the 20k race to take third place in his age category. Stacey Owen was second lady home in the 10k race, running a personal best of 46:36min, and Sam Wing was fifth lady home, running a personal best of 46:54min.

Ryston Open Cross-Country - 13th Nov

Both junior and senior members of Thetford AC competed in the second race in the Ryston Open Cross-Country Grand Prix series on Sunday.

The run, through woods at Shouldham Warren, was open to all ages and abilities. Race distances varied according to age category: under 9s 800m, under 11s 2km, junior/ senior/vets 9km.

All the Thetford AC athletes had a great run with each achieving a personal best. Results.....

Thetford Athletic Club held its 2011 presentation evening and Christmas party on Friday.

Louise White won the draw for a place in the 2012 London Marathon.

For anyone looking to shed extra pounds gained over the Christmas period, get fit, or improve on current fitness and maybe tackle a 5km in the future, then Thetford AC’s adult beginners’ running group could be the place to start. Adult beginners’ sessions are held every Monday from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, meeting outside Breckland Leisure Centre, and costs just £2 per week.

The structured training is suitable for all, even those who have never run a step before. If you’re interested in coming along please contact Gill on 07846 978226 or just turn up at 6:30pm on Mondays.

Adult sessions are also available on Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, again meeting outside Breckland Leisure Centre, and are suitable for both beginners and experienced runners.
