NORFOLK COUNTY SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Norfolk County Schools Championships was held at the UEA Sportspark, Norwich. Five athletes from Thetford AC braved the terrible conditions, with heavy rain and strong winds.
In the Junior Boys Oliver Sanders came 5th in the 100m (12.6) and 3rd in the 200m (25.5).
Abigail Clouston contested the Junior Girls 1500m and came away with a 3rd place finish (5:09.7).
Cameron Try was victorious in the Inter Boys Discus, throwing 36.11m to take the County Schools title.
In the Inter Girls, Asha Soanes came 3rd in the Javelin (30.15m) and 2nd in the Shot (11.0m).
Jessica Norkett raced in the Inter Girls 1500m and finished in 2nd place (4:49).
The athletes finishing in the top 2 in their event would ordinarily progress to the Anglian Schools Championships but unfortunately, the championships have been cancelled this year. Certain Thetford athletes will now have to wait to see if they have earned selection to compete at the English Schools Championships in Birmingham in July.
