Simon Smith and Steve Dickens from TAC travelled to Romania at the weekend to compete in the European Sprint Duathlon Championships. Having qualified to compete in this event last year they travelled to Targu Mires and under sunny skies and warm conditions they tackled the fast and furious sprint race of 5k run, 20k bike and 2.5k run amongst Europe’s finest duathletes. Simon finished in an overall time of 1:01:04 and was placed 3rd in his age group. He had the honour of picking up the bronze medal at an award ceremony later that evening. Steve achieved some brilliant run/bike splits and finished 15th in his age group in 1:10:31. Simon has already qualified for next years event and Steve plans to race at Bedford later in the year to achieve a qualifying place there.
