On yet another very wet and windy October Sunday Simon Smith travelled to Bedford to take on the Standard distance duathlon race which is a qualifier for the European Duathlon Championships 2020. The race held at the Bedford Autodrome consisted of a 10k run, 40k bike followed by a 5k run and Simon finished in 2:02:20 for 4th place in his age group and a qualifying place in Europe. This accompanies the qualifying place he had already earnt for the Sprint distance race earlier in the year. It was only last weekend that Simon also discovered he had finished in 2nd place in the Eastern Region League Championships (a series of races held throughout the season to earn points). This tops off a very successful year after winning the bronze medal at the Sprint European Champs in Romania earlier in the Summer.
